DDTC Academy, together with PT Petrosea Tbk, recently organised an in-house training (IHT) programme on international taxation and procedures for the application of tax treaties (persetujuan penghindaran pajak berganda/P3B in Indonesian). The training was held offline at Petrosea’s office in Jakarta on Thursday (16 April 2026).
The session was delivered by two DDTC professionals specialising in international taxation and tax dispute resolution: DDTC Consulting Senior Manager, Riyhan Juli Asyir and DDTC Consulting Specialist, Rafif Naufal.
Both speakers hold the Principles of International Taxation certification from the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), United Kingdom. DDTC Academy is also recognised by the CIOT as an institution in Indonesia authorised to organise preparatory classes for the ADIT examination.
A total of 25 participants attended the IHT, ranging from staff members to managers across various divisions within Petrosea. This reflects Petrosea’s commitment to strengthening its human capital capacity to respond to developments in international tax regulations in an adaptive and strategic manner.
During the presentation session, the speakers began with an introduction to the fundamentals of international taxation. Participants were equipped with an understanding of global principles governing cross-border taxation, including connecting factors in claims over the jurisdiction to tax and the potential occurrence of double taxation.
The speakers then elaborated on the general principles of interpretation, structure and application of tax treaties, enabling participants to properly interpret and apply treaty provisions. The session also covered the exemption and credit methods as well as implications thereof.
Participants were further introduced to the administrative aspects of tax treaty application pursuant to MoF Reg. 112/2025. On another note, the regulation serves as the latest reference for the application of tax treaties for both resident taxpayers (wajib pajak dalam negeri/WPDN in Indonesian) and non-resident taxpayers (wajib pajak luar negeri/WPLN in Indonesian).
The discussion subsequently shifted to treaty abuse prevention, particularly in addressing potential misuse of treaty provisions. As a closing segment, the speakers presented case studies on the tax implications of cross-border transactions to provide participants with practical and applicable insights.
Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the training, as reflected in the questions raised during the sessions. Through the IHT scheme, participants were able to directly discuss tax aspects related to various transactions undertaken by Petrosea, resulting in dynamic and engaging discussions.
Through the training, participants gained not only conceptual understanding but also practical insights applicable to day-to-day business processes. This is essential in fostering an international mindset in tax management strategy formulation and risk mitigation.

During the training, the speakers also presented copies of the book Persetujuan Penghindaran Pajak Berganda: Panduan, Interpretasi, dan Aplikasi (Second Edition). Published by DDTC, the book is expected to serve as an introductory reference for Petrosea staff in navigating the complexities of international taxation.
