Tax Policy Expert Team of Perkumpulan Tax Center dan Akademisi Pajak Seluruh Indonesia (PERTAPSI) Bawono Kristiaji.
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The presence of tax centres, tax volunteers and the coretax administration system is deemed to play a key role in efforts to improve tax literacy.
Tax Policy Expert Team Member of the Indonesian Tax Center and Tax Academics Association (Perkumpulan Tax Center dan Akademisi Pajak Seluruh Indonesia/PERTAPSI in Indonesian) Bawono Kristiaji stated that tax centres are crucial on account of the support the government needs from stakeholders to establish a tax-literate society.
“The government cannot do it alone; this is where tax centres come in—to develop literacy and foster a tax-aware society. These are institutions operating outside the government,” said Bawono during the 8th Anniversary of the Tax Center of Gunadarma University on Tuesday (6/2/2024).
Moreover, the presence of tax volunteers as agents is essential in assisting taxpayers in fulfilling their tax rights and obligations.
“Over time, tax volunteers have emerged, playing a pivotal role in assisting and educating taxpayers,” remarked Bawono.
With the forthcoming coretax administration system, the DGT’s services in the context of tax education are expected to improve and enhance taxpayer literacy.
Once officially implemented, the DGT will provide direct services and educational materials through the taxpayer portal.
By developing tax centres, tax volunteer programmes and Coretax-based education in tandem, tax literacy in the community is expected to grow.
“We hope that this expands further, allowing more tax volunteers, active tax centres and a more robust ecosystem supported by the Coretax system,” Bawono added. (sap)
