JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The government is considering improving the quality of state expenditure to render a more concrete impact on the economy and the public.

Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, stated that the concrete outcomes being targeted by the government include higher economic growth, a reduction in poverty rates, an improvement in the quality of human resources (HR) and more equitable public welfare.

"The government will continue to strive to improve the quality of state expenditure so that every rupiah of the state budget (anggaran penerimaan dan belanja negara/APBN in Indonesian) is increasingly well-targeted, accountable and produces real impact," he said, as quoted on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

Purbaya will apply the principles of quality budgeting pursuant to Gov. Reg. 6/2023 in allocating state expenditures. In his view, applying these principles aims to achieve more optimal, priority-aligned, transparent, efficient and effective expenditures.

In its implementation, the government is also applying the principle of spending better through several measures. These range from sharpening the expenditure of ministries/agencies, cutting budget allocations deemed to deliver insufficient benefit, to allocating expenditure that has a direct impact on the public.

"As well as strengthening synergy between central government and local government expenditures," he added.

To illustrate the application of this policy, Purbaya claimed that government budget absorption was already sufficiently high and optimal in 2025.

According to him, this optimisation was reflected in the realisation of government expenditures, which reached IDR2,586.4 trillion. This performance represented 90.40% of the ceiling set under the 2025 State Budget of IDR2,701.4 trillion.

"We are grateful to the parliamentary factions that have commended the high level of government budget absorption, which came close to the ceiling for budget year 2025, with central government expenditure realisation reaching 90.40%," said Purbaya. (dik)
