Deputy Minister Nurkholisoh: Tax Modernisation Beyond Digitalisation
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - Deputy Minister of Finance, Nurkholisoh Ibnu Aman, has urged member jurisdictions of the Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Mechanism (BRITACOM) to continue collaborating to jointly strengthen the capacity of tax administration systems.
In line with this year's Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Forum (BRITACOF) theme of Smart Taxation, Shared Prosperity, Nurkholisoh stated that the tax authorities of BRITACOM jurisdictions share an ambition to build a stronger, more responsive and more trusted tax system.
"A robust tax system depends on 3 aspects: the capacity to collect revenue, the willingness of taxpayers to comply as well as public trust in the government. These three elements must go hand in hand," said Nurkholisoh on Tuesday (13/10/2026).
Tax compliance will improve if taxpayers can access tax services with ease, whilst trust in the government will increase where there is clarity in terms of the rules in force.
"When compliance and trust increase, the government will have the capacity to fund infrastructure construction and the provision of public services," said Nurkholisoh.
For this reason, the modernisation of the tax administration system pursued by tax authorities must be capable of supporting increased revenues, taxpayer compliance and public trust.
"Modernisation of the tax administration system is not merely a matter of digitalisation. Through BRITACOM, we hope to share practical experiences to jointly strengthen our tax administration systems," said Nurkholisoh.
On another note, BRITACOM is a non-profit organisation that facilitates cooperation among the tax authorities of jurisdictions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). BRITACOF is the official annual event organised by BRITACOM.
This year, Indonesia has the opportunity to host the 7th BRITACOF, held from today through to Thursday (15/10/2026).
The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) hopes that BRITACOF will foster international collaboration that strengthens tax administration and enhances certainty for taxpayers. See Bimo Promotes Cross-Border Tax Collection at BRITACOF Forum (dik)
