Prabowo Targets 2027 State Revenue, Urges Plugging Leaks
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed the government's commitment to optimising state revenue.
Prabowo is of the view that optimising state revenue is one element of a holistic and consistent fiscal reform effort.
"We are pushing state revenue to be more optimal. Revenue leakages must be minimised," said Prabowo in his address delivering the Financial Note of the 2027 Draft State Budget at the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR in Indonesian), Friday (14/8/2026).
Optimising revenue and preventing revenue leakages is necessary to achieve the state revenue target in the 2027 draft state budget, proposed at IDR3,426 trillion, growing 8.6% compared with this year's target of IDR3,153.6 trillion.
The assessment of the revenue target in the 2027 draft state budget is supported by revenue for the period January to July 2026, which grew by 21.3%.
"The 2026 achievements are our foundation in preparing the 2027 draft state budget. To that end, the architecture of the 2027 draft state budget is designed to remain collaboratively expansive, directed and measured to drive higher economic growth and accelerate prosperity," said Prabowo.
In addition to driving optimal state revenue, Prabowo continued, the government will streamline expenditure whilst channelling social protection in a well-targeted manner. Innovative and sustainable financing will also continue to be developed.
The state expenditure target in the 2027 draft state budget is proposed at IDR4,097.2 trillion, whilst the budget deficit and financing are proposed at IDR671.2 trillion, or 2.4% of GDP.
"We will endeavour to press the deficit even lower. We understand that the ideal deficit is as low as possible. Indeed, our aspiration is a balanced budget," said Prabowo. (rig)
