Prabowo Says DSI Only Processes Exports, Not Sole Exporter
JAKARTA, DDTCNews — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) will only serve as a party that assists in processing the export of strategic commodities.
At the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat/MPR in Indonesian) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR in Indonesian) and the Regional Representative Council (Dewan Pertimbangan Daerah/DPD in Indonesian) in 2026, Prabowo said that PT DSI would not act as a sole exporter controlling all strategic commodities.
"PT DSI is the single gateway for processing the export of Indonesia's commodities. I repeat, the processing — not that one company will control commodities and export them, no," said Prabowo in his address on Friday (14/8/2026).
Through PT DSI, the government can monitor the volume and value of commodities loaded onto vessels for export as well as the volume and value of commodities reaching export destination countries.
Through this measure, it is expected that discrepancies in export value reporting between Indonesia and destination countries can be mitigated.
"Since commencing operations on 1 June 2026, with only three commodities, namely coal, palm oil and ferro alloy, PT DSI has managed export foreign exchange worth USD14 billion. From just three strategic commodities," said Prabowo.
Prabowo said that PT DSI had monitored approximately 6,500 export transactions across the three strategic commodities, and from these activities it was found that there is a potential additional foreign exchange gain of USD5 billion.
"Imagine if in the future all export commodities are monitored and managed by DSI. How much revenue would flow into Indonesia?" said Prabowo.
To strengthen PT DSI's role in securing foreign exchange, Prabowo said that PT DSI would expand its oversight to 50 ports located across 25 provinces. The range of commodities under supervision would also be broadened.
"We no longer wish the Indonesian nation to be cheated. Indonesia's wealth must not enrich a handful of people and leave the public living in hardship. This is not only unjust. It is not the conduct of a wise nation. Our goods, our property, yet others determine the price. This violates the principles of economics and the market," said Prabowo. (rig)
