JAKARTA, DDTCNews - A number of marketplace providers have urged online merchants to re-check and complete their identity and tax data before the collection of Article 22 Income Tax takes effect on 1 August 2026.

The notice was issued by Shopee, Tokopedia, Blibli and Lazada, via notifications to merchants on each respective platform. In general, merchants are requested to ensure that all data used for tax administration purposes is complete, accurate and consistent with official documents.

"If any data is incorrect, incomplete or no longer accurate, please update it no later than 31 July 2026 at 11.59 WIB," reads Shopee's announcement, as cited on Friday (31/7/2026).

Shopee explained that the identity data registered on a merchant's account is used to support tax administration pursuant to the provisions under MoF Reg. 37/2025. Merchants are also requested to ensure the correctness of data on the name of the shop owner or business entity, national identification number (nomor induk kependudukan/NIK in Indonesian)/taxpayer identification number (TIN), business identification number (nomor induk berusaha/NIB in Indonesian), address and account data.

The marketplace also reminded merchants that the account holder's name must match the name registered on the business account.

A similar notice was issued by Blibli. The marketplace provider explained that incomplete or inaccurate data could potentially affect the tax administration process.

Meanwhile, Tokopedia urged sellers to ensure that the tax information on its Seller Centre is correct and up to date before the provisions on Article 22 Income Tax collection take effect.

Lazada, on the other hand, shared a guide to resolving issues when uploading a TIN. Such issues may be caused by a number of common reasons, namely: NIK/TIN data has not been updated with the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT); the NIK and TIN have not yet been integrated in the system; and the TIN has already been used across more than five shop accounts.

Should any issue arise, merchant administrators are advised to re-check the TIN data entered and uploaded. If the problem persists, they are encouraged to contact the Partner Support Centre (PSC) for further assistance.

"Lazada uses your identity data for tax administration purposes in accordance with government regulations," reads Lazada's announcement.

The DGT officially designated four marketplace providers as collection agents pursuant to MoF Reg. 37/2025, namely Tokopedia, Shopee, Lazada and Blibli, on 1 July 2026. However, the 0.5% tax collection will take effect from 1 August 2026. (dik)
