JAKARTA, DDTCNews – The South Jakarta I Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) has presented an appreciation award to DDTCNews for its collaboration and contribution in disseminating tax information and education.

The dissemination of tax information and education is considered vital in raising tax awareness. The appreciation award was presented at the Public Consultation Forum and Tax Gathering of the South Jakarta I DGT Regional Office for 2026.

"Hopefully, this public consultation and tax gathering will bring benefits and blessings to us all," said the Head of the South Jakarta I DGT Regional Office, Arif Mahmudin Zuhri, at the forum themed Our Tax, Our Future: Synergy between the Public and Government in Optimising State Revenues, on Wednesday (23/9/2026).

In addition to DDTCNews, the South Jakarta I DGT Regional Office also presented appreciation awards to dozens of other partners and stakeholders, including corporate taxpayers, individual taxpayers and mass media outlets.

Arif stated that synergy among mass media, taxpayers, tax intermediaries, such as tax consultants and tax centres as well as the government, including the tax authority, is essential in optimising tax revenue.

"Success in increasing state revenue certainly cannot be achieved by the government alone, but requires strong synergy and trust between the government and the public, particularly taxpayers," he said.

With optimal tax revenue, Arif continued, the government can carry out various construction programmes, provide public services, expand infrastructure, improve the quality of education and healthcare and so forth.

According to him, these objectives can be achieved by fostering a society that is tax-aware and tax-compliant. The government, including the DGT, is also responsible for delivering high-quality, transparent, accountable and technologically adaptive services that fulfil public needs.

"On the other hand, the active participation of the public and taxpayers in fulfilling their obligations correctly, on time and responsibly is an important part of sustaining revenue for development," said Arif. (rig)
