Covering Taxes, Asset Seizure Draft Law Targeted by 15 December

JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR in Indonesian) has confirmed that deliberations on the Asset Seizure Draft Law will be completed no later than 15 December 2026.

Deputy Speaker of the House, Saan Mustopa, said that Commission III of the House is currently conducting deliberations on the Asset Seizure Draft Law, involving various parties to strengthen the substance of the Draft Law.

"The Asset Seizure Draft Law is still ongoing in Commission III of the House. So the process continues, the deliberations continue, inviting many relevant parties," said Saan, as quoted on Thursday (24/9/2026).

Saan said the House has involved criminal law experts and former leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi/KPK in Indonesian) to enrich perspectives and refine the substance of the Draft Law prior to the enactment stage.

The timeline for deliberations on the Asset Seizure Draft Law was established with reference to commitments made by the DPR leadership last month. "According to the agreement, it will certainly be enacted in line with the agreed timeline," said Saan.

Saan estimated that the Asset Seizure Draft Law would be brought to the decision-making stage in line with the ongoing series of deliberations, while maintaining the target of completion before the 15 December deadline.

Saan claimed the House has invited the public to provide input on the content of the Asset Seizure Draft Law. As such, deliberations on the Asset Seizure Draft Law are not merely aimed at meeting the established completion target.

For information, the Asset Seizure Draft Law will serve as the legal basis for non-conviction based forfeiture that is economically motivated, detrimental to the state and the wider public or that is of a high degree of seriousness and has an impact on the public.

There are 13 crimes covered under the Asset Seizure Draft Law, namely:

1. corruption crimes ;
2. narcotics and psychotropics crimes;
3. terrorism crimes;
4. human smuggling crimes ;
5. weapons, ammunition and hazardous materials smuggling crimes;
6. forestry crimes;
7. environmental crimes;
8. tax crimes;
9. banking crimes;
10. insurance crimes;
11. mining crimes;
12. maritime and fisheries crimes; and/or
13. human trafficking crimes. (dik)
