DGT Holds Tax Dialogue and Cooperative Compliance Kick-Off
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) held the 2026 Tax Dialogue and Networking Forum as well as the kick-off of the pilot implementation of cooperative compliance via a tax control framework (TCF) and data integration.
Both events were held to celebrate Tax Day, which falls on 14 July 2026.
"We are using this forum as a space for discussion, not only about taxation. Beyond that, it is a platform to strengthen relations, align perceptions, build trust and reinforce the synergy of all stakeholders to safeguard healthy fiscal sustainability," said Director General of Taxes, Bimo Wijayanto, on Monday (13/7/2026).
The 2026 Tax Dialogue and Networking Forum was held under the theme Broadening the Tax Base as a Fiscal Resilience Strategy Amidst Global Dynamics.
According to Bimo, this theme is highly relevant amidst global dynamics and increasingly complex fiscal challenges. "This theme reminds us of the perennial task that continues from year to year, namely improving the tax ratio as one of the basic prerequisites for fiscal resilience," said Bimo.
Bimo claimed that the DGT has currently improved its performance significantly. This is evidenced by the increased contribution of substantive compliance audits to revenue collection.
"Tax performance in 2026 reflects the structural strengthening of the tax system, rather than dependence on commodity booms or tax amnesty programmes," said Bimo.
However, improved compliance alone is not entirely sufficient to achieve the government's tax ratio target. Increasing the tax ratio requires support in the form of broadening the tax base and optimising taxation of the digital sector.
"Broadening the base must begin by transforming informal economic activities into the formal system through national collaboration. The DGT cannot stand alone. Everything will ultimately be integrated into a tax system that is more accountable, has integrity, is transparent and is certain," said Bimo.
Today's tax dialogue and networking forum is expected to generate ideas and enthusiasm for cross-sector synergy in support of state revenue.
Regarding the kick-off of the cooperative compliance pilot via the TCF and tax data integration, Secretary of the Director General of Taxes, Nurbaeti Munawaroh, said the programme marks a shift in the taxpayer–tax authority relationship towards one founded on openness, trust, accountability and data integration.
Several corporate taxpayers participating as partners in this pilot include Pertamina, PLN, Pelindo and several private corporations.
"Pertamina, PLN and Pelindo as well as private-sector taxpayers, will be partners at this initial stage, and the programme will subsequently be expanded in phases," said Nurbaeti. (dik)
