Coretax Refined; Minister Set to Test Its Reliability
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) has recently repaired and improved the coretax system to ensure that digital tax administration services run more stably and are easier to use by taxpayers.
Director General of Taxes, Bimo Wijayanto, revealed that the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, will also take part in testing the newly improved coretax. He noted that the authority has carried out improvements to the fullest extent possible, therey, the coretax runs smoothly and reliably, particularly ahead of the trial scheduled for next week.
"We are continuously updating and improving coretax. There was a case management issue that had slowed down somewhat and caused problems, but we resolved it internally yesterday. So, today it is running well again, and next week the Minister will conduct a test, so we are making thorough preparations," he said, as quoted on Thursday (2/7/2026).
Bimo explained that the coretax, which was designed and developed by a vendor from 2018, has now been handed over to the tax authority at the beginning of 2026. At present, two directorates bear full responsibility for the operation and improvement of coretax, namely the Directorate of Information and Communication Transformation (Transformasi Informasi dan Komunikasi/TIK in Indonesian) as well as the Directorate of Business Process Transformation.
He noted that employees in both directorates are tasked with improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and algorithms of coretax. Previously, the coretax application was still dependent on the vendor, but it is now being developed and managed independently by the DGT.
"The application algorithm was developed entirely by the vendor; now we have incorporated it into our own algorithm, and all source code has been developed by us. There were also several improvements that were previously outside the system. These are now being developed in-house and are being progressively integrated to facilitate both internal and external users," Bimo elaborated.
In addition to the system itself, the DGT has also improved the user interface, thereby, the visual presentation of coretax is increasingly interactive, appealing and easy to use. According to Bimo, the latest coretax interface is more streamlined, making it easier for taxpayers to access and understand.
The DGT has also committed to continuously improving and enhancing the quality of coretax to prevent technical obstacles that result in difficulties for taxpayers. A more reliable administrative system is expected to facilitate taxpayers in fulfilling their tax obligations, thereby improving compliance.
"This naturally requires an adjustment period, so hopefully next week we will be able to report more comprehensively. We continue to work hard to simplify, provide certainty in services and also accelerate service delivery," said Bimo. (dik)
