Semester I 2026 Tax Revenue Surges 24.6%, Here is the Full Breakdown
JAKARTA, DDTCNews - Tax revenue realisation in the first half of 2026 was recorded at IDR1,035.7 trillion, growing 24.6% compared with the same period last year.
Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, stated the realisation is equivalent to 43.9% of the tax target under the 2026 State Budget (anggaran penerimaan dan belanja negara/APBN in Indonesian), which stands at IDR2,357.7 trillion.
"Tax reform and organisational as well as personnel reform in taxation have already yielded quite promising results," said Purbaya at a meeting to present the Semester I report of the 2026 State Budget to the Budget Committee (Badan Anggaran/Banggar of the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat/DPR in Indonesian), Tuesday (7/7/2026).
Tax revenue growth was underpinned by increased economic activity, rising wage payments and take-home pay (THP) as well as rise in commodity prices.
Purbaya said the improvement in tax revenue was also supported by various extra-effort initiatives and strengthened tax administration.
"Tax officials have been requested to work harder to increase tax collection. It may not yet be as ideal as many people expected, but there has already been a significant improvement. We will endeavour to make further progress going forward without raising rates," said Purbaya.
Tax revenue in the first half of 2026 was supported by value added tax (VAT) and sales tax on luxury goods (STLGs), which grew 42.2% with a realisation of IDR380 trillion. Corporate income tax, together with its deposits, was recorded as growing 28.6% with a realisation of IDR196.1 trillion.
Further, individual income tax and Article 21 Income Tax, together with Article 21 Income Tax deposits, rose by 13.6% with a realisation of IDR146 trillion, whilst final income tax, Article 22 Income Tax and Article 26 Income Tax grew 1.4% with a realisation of IDR159.9 trillion.
Finally, other tax realisations reached IDR153.8 trillion, with growth of 22.7%.
"So although the coretax system has its flaws, its impact has been quite significant in increasing tax revenue. We will address the weaknesses of coretax to allow the public to use it with ease, enabling our tax revenue to rise further," said Purbaya. (dik)
