JAKARTA, DDTCNews – The Association of Indonesian Economic Scholars (Ikatan Sarjana Ekonomi Indonesia/ISEI in Indonesian) will convene a national taxation seminar titled Enhancing the Tax Ratio Amidst Economic Pressures: Strategies and Solutions.
The topic is particularly relevant as the tax ratio serves as a key indicator for assessing the effectiveness of a country’s tax system in supporting development and ensuring fiscal sustainability.
In Indonesia, efforts to improve the tax ratio have become increasingly complex amidst both global and domestic economic pressures. The rapid growth of the digital economy as well as tax avoidance and evasion, pose additional challenges to raising the tax ratio.
These challenges underscore the need for comprehensive strategies to improve the tax ratio. Such strategies should not only aim to increase state revenue but also take into account economic stability and public welfare.
Accordingly, the seminar will examine various tax policy measures that could sustainably enhance the tax ratio. It is also expected to serve as a forum for dialogue among the government, academics, tax practitioners as well as entrepreneurs to identify the most effective solutions.
Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at the seminar. Meanwhile, Vice Chair of ISEI Jakarta and Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK in Indonesian) Commissioner, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, will provide the opening remarks.
To explore the topic in depth, the seminar will feature four speakers. First, the Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy, Febrio Nathan Kacaribu. Second, the Director General of Taxes, Bimo Wijayanto. Third, Founder of DDTC, Darussalam.
Fourth, economist Aviliani from the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF). The discussion will be moderated by Ani Natalia, a member of the ISEI Jakarta board and Head of the Public Relations Subdirectorate at the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT).
The seminar will take place on Tuesday (26/8/2025) from 09:00 to 12:00 Western Indonesian Time (Waktu Indonesia Barat/WIB in Indonesian) and will be conducted online via Zoom and the ISEI Jakarta YouTube channel.
In addition to gaining valuable insights, all participants will receive an e-certificate. The event will also offer prizes in the form of e-money worth IDR300,000 for five participants who submit the best questions.
